Upcoming Ethereum Scaling Projects

'

Cryptocurrencies might be making a comeback, but they aren’t yet half what they were in the last quarter of 2017. However, to give credit where it’s due, they are recovering, and things look good. In addition to the rising prices are essential development procedures to look forward to in 2019.

Parties in the crypto community will be particularly interested in Ethereum in 2019. The digital currency has upgrades and breakthroughs scheduled in the coming months. Of course, some updates could happen in a few years, but that depends on Ethereum’s priorities at the moment. Ethereum has classified some as short term, others long term perspective.

Ethereum 1x Scaling

Now, while the Ethereum community of developers is working on the long term scaling solutions, the near term scaling issues need to be addressed. Thankfully, Ethereum has deployed a team of developers to work on viable solutions in the weeks to come. The pursuing of scaling and sustainability solutions and ETH has effectively impacted Ethereum. There have been numerous concerns across the crypto sector, whether Ethereum is capable of handling their success.

Possible concepts being explored include stateless clients, state fees, and protocol improvements. These, together with Solidity and Geth are among works currently ongoing behind the scenes at Ethereum. Now, the gap between the current version of Ethereum and the current options on the table. The transition can cause quite a friction besides being painful — however, it’s not impossible.

Nimbus Sharding

If you are familiar with the Ethereum ecosystem, then you know that there is a focus on sharding that is being prioritized to scale the currency. The team in charge of this, known as Status.im is currently on the process of building a new client for convenient sharding access. Nimbus is the solution and involves collecting valuable feedback for ironing out bugs that might be present.

Nimbus acts as a sharding for client resource-restricted devices. Currently, the nimbus to nimbus testnet is already in operation. If the project works as expected, then it will be a significant breakthrough for Ethereum.

The Go Implementation

As the upcoming changes line up, numerous Ethereum aspects will need modification and upgrading. That’s not an easy task either, but the Prismatic Labs promised something efficient. The Labs currently focusing on the Ethereum serenity implementation called prysm. Their sole concern is making it compatible with ETH 2.0 code base.

As the works continue, the prysm testnet is already available for users to participate. Users can choose to set up a validator client and beacon node. For a validator activation, you will need 3.2 Goerli ETH. The deposit may take time to be processed but will be accessible soon.

The Sigma Prime

The sigma prime lighthouse is another Ethereum oriented project that you might want to put an eye on. The project shares familiarity with the rest of ETH 2.0 projects in that it has a working testnet which has already been made available to the users. It is a breakthrough to the project. And a lot of funds have been invested
